Kumbh Mela 2019: Railways to run 800 special trains

To facilitate the pilgrims in the great Kumbh Mela 2019, the Indian Railways has planned to run 800 new trains. Out of these, most of the trains will be run by the north central railway, north eastern railway and the northern railways.

To curb the crowd, the railways is going to run trains from different platforms of the Allahbad junction. Trains will also run from different directions of Mughal Sarai Junction (Deen Dayal Junction), Manikpur, Fatehpur and Kanpur junctions too.

Trains will be launched from 13th January 2019 to 6th March 2019

Many trains are going to run from upcoming 13th January and will continue till 6th March. On the days of main Snan festivals, special trains will run for four days continuously. The special trains would carry the passengers to the Snan area and take them back to their respective homes. The Allahbad Railways will specially arrange not to run commercial goods carrier on these routes near the Snan dates.

Special trains will be lauched immediately

If the crowd is massive, then immediately special trains will be run without any announcement. Northern railways will also run trains from Prayag Ghat and Prayag stations to Faizabad, Lukhnow and Jounpur. The already scheduled trains will run as usual.

Special facilities by the Railways

Railways has also made big enclosures for 10,000 pilgrims at the Allahbad junction. The basic amenities like vending stalls, CCTVs, separate toilets blocks for men and women, water booths, ticket counters, LCD TVs and passenger announcing systems will also be provided there.

The railways will also plan to arrange proper cleaning of the area during the whole festival. As it is will be a massive gathering where more than 100 millions pilgrims are expected to arrive, managing all the events is a challenging task for the govt. However, all the measures are taken to handle the situation. Even private players have been contacted to manage all the necessities required in the festival.
